Well, after seeing othe people's Avara pages, I thought I'd have a go at one. You may know me by several names, but mostly either Harlequin<A¼> , or as Cyborg<ñ>. Don't ask me why I have two handles, It just came out like that. Well, this page is under heavy construction:
I've been playing Avara for about 2 or 3 months now, and am quite good at it now. I can whip quite a few people, but I can't quite beat any decent players. Unfortuanterly , I am being limited by the fact I have a 19.2 modem. I will be getting a nice 33.6 modem to alow for far less lag.
I am thinking of starting up an Avara Webring. You may have seen my EV Webring, and I would like to do a similar one for Avara. If you don't know what a webring is, here's a definition:
A Webring is a collection of sites linked together.
That's the simple explanation. The Webring I'm running for EV and the one I want to run for Avara, is infact linked by some HTML code, referenced to a CGI script to allow for people to easily join the ring. It also allows for some nice tricks, such as going to a random page, a list of the next five ect. If I get 5 messages at this address I will go Ahead with it.
A Know this was a whil;e ago, but a group of people known only as "Borg" attempted to crash the tracker. I am not talking about clan Borg (i.e. handle<BORG>), these people actualy had their their handles as Borg. All of them. Me and "The White Dwarf" managed to break the password on their server (Which happened to be keeping an accurate count down to the said crash). We got nothing out of them. So I Posed as another "Borg", and got some more information about the attempt. However, I had to leave Avara before they carried out their threat (If they Actualy did), so I have no Idea if they were successful.
Now here's something for all you European players (myself included). There is now a European Avara League! The league is avalible to only Europeans (just re-emphisizing), and to join in you need to assemble a team of two players, then go sign up at http://user.itl.net/~harris/EAL.htm, this URL also gives complete details about the League, so I'm not going to repeat them here. See you in the League!
This will be filling up soon, as I have finaly been able to "decipher" the tecnobabble in the Level Design Manual , with the help of the Moron's Guide to Level Design.
I can now reveal what i'm planning to do as a level. It's called Hectortrap, and is going to be quite interesting. The level is based around a large very high box, with slits in the wall to allow for easy shooting of anyone who falls into the trap. There are invisible teleporters dotted around the level, that drops the un-lucky HECTOR straight into the trap. Amessage is then sent to all Hector's saying that someone is in the trap. they can now gang up on the poor traped person and blow him away. However, after a timed delay, the teleporter in the trap send the captive person to a room filled with goodies, and they can the exit back to the main level. Simple realy.
